*REVIEW* Enemy Through the Gates: A P.J. stone Novel Book 1 by: D.T. Dyllin

P.J. Stone, like most eighteen-year-old girls, is a little boy crazy and somewhat obsessed with finding the perfect boyfriend. Some days she feels like she might be the last remaining virgin in her entire high school, and maybe even the entire tri-state area.

After a traumatic night at a friend’s party, P. J. realizes what she truly wants has been right under her nose all along. Bryn O’Bannon, her best friend and partner in crime since age five, is head over heels in love with her, and she feels the same about him.

But P.J.’s life isn’t that simple. She’s a member of a separate society that exists secretly among the rest of the world; the society raises gifted individuals to protect the world from interdimensional interlopers, and P. J. was taught to put duty before her heart. She is expected to choose a suitable mate in order to perpetuate the Seer line. Unfortunately, Bryn is a Guardian and is forbidden to date—let alone mate with—a Seer such as herself.

As if figuring out her love life isn’t complicated enough, P.J. begins having visions of a threat to her world only she is able to perceive. Now, she must concoct and execute a plan to avert world disaster while at the same time avoiding the dissolution of her love life

This book was such a delight to read.  From the get go I seriously got right into it and had no problems staying there.  With such a strong and enticing story you don't want to stop.  The characters in this book each hold their own appeal and are vivid and strong!!

P.J.  Stone is a seer.  I think that kind of basically explains what she can do but I will leave some of the more specific things for you to find out.  Though she starts out like most teenagers and is oblivious to the affections of the most obvious person, that is fixed all in one crazy night.  You know those life changing moments that we all have?  I mean you can not tell me you haven't had a moment when you just knew everything was going to change.  For P.J. that something was her and Bryn.  Once she knows what she wants she is determined to get it!  Not saying she doesn't hit a few shall we say "Bumps" though this book.  This doesn't detour her and she stands firm.  Overall I would have to say P.J. is one of the most determined, kick-butt characters I have had the pleasure of reading.

Bryn will make you all kinds of fan girl!! What do you imagine a Guardian being?  Well take that and times it by ten and you have Bryn.  Even his possessive moments have me wishing that I was P.J. and I mean at that moment I became her!! I will tell you that there is more than just Bryn that is swoon worthy.  You also get Kohl and Jeremy.  I totally was not a Jeremy fan.  Sorry Jer.  Just not my type.  Kohl however runs a very and I mean VERY close second to Bryn.  He seems to have a bit more of a darker and more passion filled personality.  However Kohl is no Bryn and P.J. is totally with me on that one.

D.T. manages to take what starts out like a dystopian and turned it into some kind of awesome sci-fi novel.  When she adds the little extra twist you will be completely WOW'd and it will only pull you more into the book.  The only thing I think I missed was the explaination of the gates.  It could have just been me.  I get the basics of what a gate is but I would have liked just a little more detail as to how they function and why the Seers, Guardians, Gatekeepers and Speakers are so need.  Just felt like that was a little bump for me.  However you don't have to worry a whole lot about the gates, so for the most part you can forget about it.

Be warned there are some more intense scenes in this book.  I personally loved them but they are seriously hot at time ( moments I wished I was P.J. included in this *blushes*).  So I would almost say this is a border line New Adult.  No matter how I look at it though this novel was absolutely wonderful.  D.T. is an exceptionally talented writer and after reading this I would pick up just about anything that has her name on it.  From a riveting plot, to stunningly strong and vivid characters this book is not lacking.  I am eagerly awaiting book two and would highly recommend this one!!

4/5

  1. This sounds like a great read, one that I would absolutely enjoy. I love it when best friends realize just how perfect they are for each other. No insta-love, thankfully! And the couple having to fight for it always adds a little bit of fun!
