*REVIEW* ReVamped by Ada Adams + GIVEAWAY

Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father’s presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn’s life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue.

When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

Well I certainly wish I had picked up this book sooner.  I didn't start it until about 7pm and I was up until about 2-3am reading it.  My reading ability slowed with the late hour but my interest only intensified as I read on and I was not ready to put this wonderful book down.  Even after the last page was turned, I was still finding myself wanting more.  Not because it was a cliff hanger ending but because I simply loved everything about this book.

The story itself seemed simple enough to start.  Vamps as we know them are in the open.  We have the wonderful Hollywood to thank for this.  Once out in the open and welcomed by most people life seems good.  You have all of your politics of course and this is where you find Dawn.  The daughter of the Vampire President of the US.  However you don't get your typical defenceless daughter.  Dawn is highly trained in EVERYTHING and is more than okay with taking care of herself.  In fact she instructs the younger ones on how to defend and attack.  Honestly you will love Dawn and her strength.

When Dawn finally gets her first mission, it is so far from what she expected.  No matter what it is to start she is just happy that her father is letting her out into the field.  Brooke, Sophie, Seth and Hunter are her assignment.  She is to train the 4 of them to protect the small town of Angel Creek.  What seemed like a simple task is going to be much harder than planned when she meets them all.  Not only are they basically all 100% different but they can barely get along. The way they clash is undeniable and you will feel for Dawn but at them same time there is always hope, right...

The main men.  Oh boy! I use the term boy very lightly.  Both Ethan and Sebastian are horribly attractive, however the difference in personality is like night and day.  While Ethan is easy on the eyes and simply easy to be around I just couldn't love him.  He is the puppy to Sebastian's wolf.  Yes that means I LOVE Sebastian and his difficult and infuriating ways.  Aren't the best ones the more difficult ones :) Sebastian really just wants nothing to do with any one and you can't help but be drawn to him.

When I say pick up this book you wont be disappointed I mean it in the strongest, most suggestive way possible! The story is different, intriguing and fun.  There is something for everyone and the strength of the leading lady Dawn will seriously blow you away.  There are a couple twists the will really throw you off but honestly I think that is why I loved this book so much.  The pace was perfect for me and when the little twists came it was simply a delight and a surprise! I can't wait for the next book!!!!

You can Purchase the book HERE

The wonderful Author of this novel provided me with a copy for an honest review.

{Tour Stop} Excerpt: Eternal Youth by: Julia Crane & Nolia McCarty

The six years following the abrupt death of her father were the worst of Calista Bishoff's life. Frightened by her own mortality, Callie’s mom threw herself into a search for the Fountain of Youth—and dragged Callie along with her.

Callie should have loved traveling, but instead she hated every minute. When one more failed search sends her mother into depression, they finally return home to California. Sixteen-year-old Callie is ready to hang with her friends and be normal for as long as she can.

But, an unplanned trip to Bermuda with her grandmother throws Callie’s plans awry, and there’s more in store for Callie and her mom than just a simple beach vacation. Callie’s life is turned inside out as she finds herself in a very different world than the one she knows—
Where things exist that she never dreamed were real.

I have a wonderful Excerpt here for you all today!! Although I don't know Nolia very well
(I hope to soon) I am a HUGE fan of Julia Crane!!  Just read this excerpt and tell me
what you think.  Personally after reading this I NEEDED this one!!

EXCERPT

Now what?
Hidden rooms. What did Callie know about hidden rooms? A lot, actually. She’d been with her mother for a lot of hidden rooms. In an ancient Mayan temple in Guatemala two years before, there had been a spring beneath the foundation, accessible only by a hidden staircase. They’d found it by a notch on the wall…
Callie eyed the long stretch of stone wall. It wasn’t lit as nicely as the rest of the temple. She sighed and whipped her bag around to pull out her candle and a match. The flame flared into existence. Stepping closer to the wall, she started her search for anything abnormal.
She ran her eyes from top to bottom, inch by inch, thankful that the ceilings weren’t too tall. There were several strange things she found in the first few feet, but no matter of prodding turned them into anything but natural flaws in the stones.
It wasn’t until she’d reached a half-way point that she hit the jackpot: a shallow depression in the stone. If she hadn’t been trailing her fingers over the wall near her abdomen, she would have completely missed it.
Callie knelt to be eye-level with the dip and lifted her candle until she could see it clearly.
There were faint lines inside the circular depression.
She paused, absolutely still even though her breath quickened. Is this it?
Callie lined her finger up inside the circle and pressed.
There was a pop followed by a brief scraping sound. Callie stood up, her eyes sweeping the wall for the source of the scrape, and then walked forward.
The door might as well have been a section of wall, cut out and fixed up with what was probably an air mechanism to work it. One push of the button and a burst of air knocked open the door. Simple but effective.
Callie hooked her fingers in the small crack between the door and the wall, and pulled hard. It took a couple of heaves, but she managed to get it open enough for her skinny body to slip through.
The candle illuminated a very small room, longer than it was wide. Callie held the candle out before her and squinted into the space as she moved forward. There was nothing in there—no tables, no chairs, no cabinets. Nothing but a wooden trunk on the floor against the back wall.
Her heart raced. Parts of her were already celebrating—Charlotte was right, the book existed, Callie could find the way home…but another part of her was steeling herself for a big let down.
She knelt on the floor, carefully placing the candle at her knee. The trunk wasn’t ornate or special—just wood and gold hinges. It wasn’t even locked.
Callie took hold of both sides and tugged the lid up. It slammed against the wall, and she cringed. She glanced worriedly over her shoulder and waited to hear the sound of running footsteps or yells.
Nothing.
She turned back to the trunk. Picking up her candle, she put her hand over the black hole inside.
On the very bottom was a single, brown leather-bound book.
Callie was frozen in place. She stared at the inoffensive object—smaller than she expected—lying on the wood. It could hold the answers she needed. A shiver ran down her spine, and she leaned forward to pick it up.
She tucked the book in her bag, blew out her candle, and then quickly exited the room. Outside in the narrow hallway, she waited a moment to see if she could hear any distant footsteps before shoving the door closed. It slammed into place with the screech of stone against stone.
Hurrying down the hallway, Callie clung to the strap of her bag and tried to control her emotions. Half-elated, half-terrified, she turned the sharp corner to exit the hidden hallway, then turned once more to leave.
And slammed right into a soldier.

Review
Meeting Destiny was such a fun read.  It had a bit of everything that you want in a book.  The was supernatural bits, close friends, romance, love and heart racing moments.  There were a couple different ways that I pictures this book and truth be told it kind of went a little of each way.

Lauren has great instincts when it comes to people, so when a man walks in to the restaurant that she is working at and she starts to feel uneasy you know there is trouble to come.  What she does in those moments after she realizes what is going on bring her to her destiny.  Well the start of her destiny.  Truth be told there is a lot of little complications in Lauren's life.

Everyone in Lauren's life seems to have expected her to always be with Seth her high school sweetheart and the boy next door that she grew up with.  When things start to change and more things become clear to Lauren people start to worry.  Seth clings to Lauren and continues to love her enough for the both of them but is that even enough?

Her destiny and what she has always know collide and make for a fast paced and exciting read.  However I do want to point out  that the love is also extremely fast paced and is an insta love kind of situation.  Within days of meeting they are making out and expressing things beyond what would be normal.  They are soul mates so I do understand a certain amount of fast forward in the relationship but at times it was almost too much.  It does level itself out a little closer to the end though.

The ending of this book had me needing more.  For you people out there that love a good ending that leaves you wanting more this is your book!! There is really so much to love about it as long as you are ok with the insta love and fast moving relationships.  I personally can not wait to get the rest of this series and find out what happens!!

*Review* Half World By Hiromi Goto

Melanie Tamaki is human—but her parents aren’t. They are from Half World, a Limbo between our world and the afterlife, and her father is still there. When her mother disappears, Melanie must follow her to Half World—and neither of them may return alive. Imagine Coraline as filmed by the Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki (Howl’s Moving Castle), or Neil Gaiman collaborating with Charles de Lint. Half World is vivid, visceral, unforgettable, a combination of prose and images that will haunt you.

Reading the description on this book I figured this was going to be something new to me and I really wanted to give it a try.  I am so glad I did.  The book is about Melanie, a teenage girl that people see as slow and chubby.  She enjoys to read and tries her best to fly under the radar even when being picked on.  When her mother is taken from her she has no other choice but to step up and find her.

Melanie is such an unlikely hero and maybe that is why I liked her.  The odds were constantly against her and most of the time she knew that.  However for the most part she looked forward and kept on going.  There were times when she would whine and complain about what was going on and the lack of help, and I would be lying if I said that didn't bother me.  However I did have to keep in mind that she is young, has only ever had her mother and for the most part has never really had to do anything on her own. I do want you too keep in mind that these parts are really minor in comparison to all the times Melanie steps up and is more than you thought she could be.

The Half World that you see is extremely well written.   The people/creatures that you meet and see in the half World will intrigue you and haunt you.  There are things of nightmares there and you will walk beside them, run from them and talk with them.  I would be seriously lying to you if I said none of the things I seen creeps me out.  There was a couple of them that if I had been Melanie and seen them I would have run screaming! The other little bonus that this book contains, is the little images that you get throughout the book.  Some of them really help you get a better hold on what is being done or the object that is being talked about.

This book is really an interesting read but you have to either like a darker fantasy or be willing to step out of your comfort zone like I did.  I would recommend this book for people looking for a well written novel and something different.   Hiromi Goto did a wonderful job creating vivid characters and a world that will stay with you well after you have put the book down!

I received this copy from Razorbill Canada for review.

Destiny Tour by Heather M. White: Promo Stop

16 year old Karlie has had a pretty normal life... But when her Mom dies she is forced to move over 1,000 miles away to live with her Dad. That's when things start getting weird.

She can't explain the earthquakes that nobody else feels, or why she no longer sleeps. But most of all she doesn't know why she trusts Shane so much, even though his Dad wants her dead.

Suddenly, Karlie's normal life is turned upside down and she enters a world she never dreamed could really exist.

Now that Karlie has received her full powers, things are going to be great... right?

Karlie's number one priority is to kill Serenity - after all she deserves it for trying to kill Alex. Though it isn't as easy as it sounds. Serenity teams up with demons to create an army to destroy Karlie.

On top of that, there are a ton of zombies, everywhere... And a new angel in town, who seems more like a demon... And of course, a shape shifter dragon! It's all weird, even for Karlie.

With friends turning against friends, it seems as though her life got a whole lot more complicated

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Heather M. White

I am a returning resident to Arkansas. I just migrated south from Saint Louis, MO with my husband. We have a married a year. :)

I love to write. I have been writing since I was a kid - literally. I decided in the 2nd grade I would write a book. I wrote lots of short stories and poems... And did I mention I wrote over 200 songs? (Yeah, I'm a musician too - guitar, bass, drums and vocals). So I wrote my very first novel at the ripe age of 14... My Mom still has it :-/. OK, so maybe it wasn't my best work, but I had a LOT of fun writing it!

When I'm not writing, I am normally reading. I am also a caffeine addict... Dr. Pepper and NOS (the energy drink) are my drugs of choice :)

Waiting on Wednesday: Live Through This by Mindi Scott

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spineand spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week is:
Sometimes hiding the truth requires more than a lie . . .

From the outside, Coley Sterling’s life seems pretty normal . . . whatever that means. It’s not perfect—her best friend is seriously mad at her and her dance team captains keep giving her a hard time—but Coley’s adorable, sweet crush Reece helps distract her from the annoying drama. Plus, she has a great family to fall back on—with a stepdad and mom who would stop at nothing to keep her and her siblings happy and safe.

But Coley has a lot of secrets. She won’t admit—not even to herself—that her almost-perfect life is her own carefully-crafted façade. That for years she’s been burying the shame and guilt over a relationship that crossed the line. Now, Coley and Reece are getting closer, and as Coley has the chance at her first real boyfriend, a decade’s worth of lies are on the verge of unraveling.

Mindi Scott offers an absorbing, layered glimpse into the life of an everygirl living a nightmare that no one would suspect in this unforgettable powerhouse of a novel.

Format: Paperback
 Length: 304 pages
Expected publication: October 2nd 2012 by Simon Pulse

I have recently decided that I must add more contemporary to my reading diet and this book
sounds like something I would really like.  I love contemporary books that are strong in the emotion
department. Lets face it when you see "powerhouse of a novel" you know it's going to be a strong book!

Well this is what I am Waiting on This Wednesday, what are you waiting on?
Please leave me a link so I can come and visit you too!!

What about you?!

*REVIEW* Saving You Saving Me by Kailin Gow

18 year old high school senior and aspiring psychologist Samantha Sullivan (Sam) never thought she would fall for the one mysterious guy she has been speaking to over the phone for months, the boy the counselors called Daggers. She wasn't supposed to talk to him outside of their sessions. But as she began to peel the layers of Daggers and learn who he is, the one boy she is supposed to be saving, might just be the one who is saving her.

All I have to say about this is WOW!! This is such a powerful read and Kailin you really did do an amazing job with this book.  The characters, emotions and all the different situations that were throughout the book are so wonderfully written and make your emotions run on high as well.

Sam is an ambitious 18 year old girl that wants nothing more than to graduate from her high school and become a Psychiatrist.  In order to get there she needs to obtain a scholarship because she can't afford to go  to the school she wants any other way.  When she gets told that helping out at the Sawyer House will give her that edge that she needs, she agrees to go and give it a try.  Being a peer counselor is nerve racking to Sam at first but when she picks up the phone for the first time she becomes a natural.

Daggers has gone though a lot in his life.  Calling the Sawyer House was not what he thought it was going to be.  Getting Sam wasn't what he expected but it turned out for the best.  The more Daggers talks to Sam, the , more he wants to tell her about his dark past and his current demons.  Talking to Sam "Susan" as he knows her becomes an every day thing but will she be enough or will his demons get the best of him?

There are more characters to this story than Sam and Daggers but these two are by far the most powerful and influential in this novel.  I don't even know where to begin when it comes to Sam.  She has such a strong exterior shell but on the inside she can be a mess as well.  Life isn't all it seems to be on the outside all of the time.  Talking to Daggers who seems to be a relief to her too =, as she can tell him things she would not tell someone normally.  Daggers just wants to change.  He needs the change but he is having such a hard time with it.  To me Daggers represents that inner struggle that we all deal with at one point and time in our lives and you really want to help him too.

For a strong contemporary read I would really suggest that you pick this book up.  There is a bunch of different situations that either you have gone through or someone you know has gone through in life.  There are so many parts that will make your heart ache for different callers and characters but there are other parts that give you hope.  There were parts that brought tears to my eyes with the strength and amount of emotion.    I can honestly say that I am eagerly awaiting the next book.

*REVIEW* DIRTY BLOOD by Heather Hildenbrand

I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that’s not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can’t seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted – and then she was a wolf. All snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That’s about the time I went into shock… And that was the moment he showed up.

Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And Two, I was born to kill them.

When Heather asked me if I would review Dirty Blood I was so excited! I had seen the book everywhere for a long time and then Cold Blood came out and more good things were said.  Needless to say I couldn't wait to see what all of the fuss was about.  Right from the get go I was excited that this seemed like it was going to be a different kind of werewolf book and it didn't let me down from the start.

Tara is just what I love in a female protagonist.  She is strong, independent and completely KICK BUTT!!  Her world is changed in just one night and yes she deals with it but not without asking questions.  I LOVE that she accepts what is going on (even gives her more confidence) but not without wanting more knowledge.  There is power in knowing what is going on and let me tell you this girl has the power.  Even as she starts to really develope and the book progresses there is always something that she questions.  I found myself laughing out loud and frequently smiling when it came to Tara and her entire personality!

"I grinned, unable to help myself.  I felt like an idiot in some sober part
of my brain, but the drugged part just shrugged and grinned bigger
at that part."

Every character in this book is clearly written.  You have Wes, Jack, Fee.... Everyone!! Fee also has to be one of my favorite characters.  I see her as all kinds of beautiful and graceful but you have to know that there is power under all of that.  Each and every time one of these characters or any of the others for that matter step into the pages you know who you are looking at.   Normally it takes a couple of times of seeing someones name to remember who they are but not with Heather's wonderful writing and descriptions.  Even the villain has his own clearly drawn story!!

Normally with books you have to kind of read a bit before you get to some really juicy parts.  Not this one you are thrown right in, in the first chapter!  The book just takes off from there and you really wont want to stop.  For those of you that are sick of love triangles PICK THIS UP!! This is a love triangle free book.  I found that even the romance that does happen isn't an insta love.  Yes there is an instant attraction but it's not they are stuck at the hip.  So there is another common element that people are trying to avoid that this book avoids as well.  So overall if you want to read a book that is love triangle free, has no insta love. lots of action and an amazingly strong female protagonist PICK THIS UP!!

He was the one that played us awesome music and chatted with us while we waited
for the amazing chat and signing to start!!

He also gave us T-shirts, bookmarks and Frisbee swag while we waited just for being early!
This table is the basket and a couple of tee's that were left over :)
Finally it was time and the wonderful Jay Asher, Leslie Livingston and Charles de Lint made
their way out and took their seats!! As we took pics of them they took pics of us :)
Jay Asher was the first one up.  He talked about his book Thirteen Reasons Why.  If you haven't
picked that one up DO IT!! Such a powerful and amazing read.
Lesley chatted about her series Wondrous Strange (which I LOVE) and her book
Once Every Never.  We also got to hear a bit about Starling which sounds so good
and I honestly can not wait.  She is so funny and I was so glad I got there to see her!
Charles de Lint was last but far from least!! He discussed Under my Skin with all
of us.  I will shamefully admit although I bought the book and had read bits about it I didn't know
a lot about it!! I now can not wait to read the book!!!
This is a video of Lesley Livingston when she was chatting if you are interested :)
I think it is about 5 minutes or so long...

Overall this was so exciting for me I also got my books signed !! Thank you to all the bloggers
that made me feel so welcome!! Michelle from Just a Lil Lost introduced herself to me.  So
sweet and I wished I had a little longer to chat with her about her trip to Paris!!

Well that is all folks!! Thanks for stopping by and checking this out :)
