Weekly Report is my way of showing you from week to week (most of the time) what new books I received and what has gone on in the past week. So basically it's a report for all the awesome that I got and shared! So it may or may not have been my birthday last week...  Okay it totally was and because my

mother is AWESOME she gave me a Chapters gift card!!  So basically I splurged and got all

of these AMAZING books!!  Well all of them except All Our Yesterdays because that was a

pre-order and because it was released the day before my birthday I had ordered it so I could have

a book that day (being a student kills book sprees lol).

  Katie McGarry exploded into the YA scene with Pushing the Limits and won over many hearts and created a wave of fan girl moments.  Not only are her plots compelling but her writing is absolutely stunning.  Truth be told I was unsure if Beth's story would quite reach the capacity in which Noah and Echo's did because of her hardened personality and my inability to relate or really like her when I met her last.  Let me tell you though, Dare You To is quite simply put the emotional and breath taking equal to Pushing the Limits and is bound to meet the expectations of fans everywhere.  

  Switching from Noah and Echo and onto Beth was a far easier transaction than expected.  Right from the start the story picks up a attention grabbing pace with heart stopping emotion.  Beth has never had an easy life and has been blamed for many things that were not within her control by the one person that should have been there for her...her mother.  a quick turn of events changes everything Beth ever knew and thrusts her into a world she never wanted to be a part of and with her Uncle that she wants no part of.  Then to top things off her Uncle takes it upon himself to make sure she has someone to show her around the school.  Even though that seems to be the worst thing that can happen, it isn't and Beth's entire world is going to crumble before she can really live.

  There is no doubt about it that after reading this book I had judged Beth too harshly before.  Heck I wasn't sure how McGarry was going to be able to turn such a hardened, non emotional person into someone people could not only like but have a story that could rival Noah and Echo's.  Turns out there is way more to Beth than the surface we scraped before.  She is without a doubt a hard nut to crack and we do spend most of the story with her resisting everything but when your surroundings, the people around you change and so does everything you thought you knew, you can change too.  This isn't saying Beth is rainbows and butterflies because she is NOT but maybe she gives living a try.

  I don't think that there is any of us out there that thought there would be anyone for Beth that wasn't Isaiah.  Lets face it despite the fact that they got lost in drugs together he was there for her, you could tell he cared deeply for her.  However with this group of friends it just seems that it isn't meant to be.  Instead when Beth gets hauled away she finds Ryan, who I may add is basically everything that annoys her but he is persistent.  Now I also can't say that I like Ryan right away because his motives aren't exactly clean and going deeper into Beth's world caused me to be slightly angered by this.  When all is said and done though he is a good guy and extremely good for Beth.  Telling you that they are perfect right from the start would be a lie because they both only have their own needs in mind, it is when they cross that line and care about the other that things start working out.

  I'm not sure in the end that Beth and Ryan's romance rivaled Noah and Echo's but their story sure did.  Some of the heart break in this one is really hard to swallow and many hard lessons are learned but life is never easy, it doesn't matter how perfect things look because they normally aren't.  Katie McGarry has this fire in her writing that will always call out to readers and undoubtedly bring anyone that picks up her books screaming back for more.   I can say with full confidence that I would pick up or recommend any Katie McGarry novel without even reading the description.  This is different from PTL and the same in ways but ultimately the gorgeous writing and emotional pull of the story outweighs everything else.

Listening to them discuss my gay brother's possible gay boyfriend is just as comfortable as convincing my mom over and over that I prefer girls and their girl parts. -Ryan

I swallow, but it's hard to do when my throat tightens. The little girl I used to be, the one with the blond hair, died years ago ad I hate thinking about her. She was nice. She was happy. She was... not someone I want to remember. -Beth

Ryan hates me and I don't blame him. I hate me. What I hate more in this moment is that part of me likes Ryan. He stood up for me like the prince does for the princess in the fairytales Scott used to read me as a child. -Beth

Just go with it, Ryan. Like other predators, Beth can smell fear.

**REVIEW** Zombies Don't Forgive by Rusty Fischer

  Following Barracuda Bay’s homecoming cum zombie Armageddon, fellow zombies Maddy, Dane, and Stamp have fled to Orlando where they work at a theme park, hiding in plain sight at their jobs in the Great Movie Monster Makeover show. The three spend most of their time together in their apartment trying to avoid curious Normals and Sentinels—humans and zombie cops. While Dane and Maddy draw closer, Stamp drifts away, falling for a mysterious blonde. But when the mysterious girl puts their existence in danger, all Maddy cares about is hunting the blonde down to separate her from her head.

  Rusty Fischer has created characters/zombies that I seriously just can not get enough of.  He writes characters that are so individual and you can tell that he is seriously involved in what he does.  Many people write and some get out there but when an author puts his/her all into it you can tell.  There are many second books out there that are really not suffering from second book syndrome but Rusty didn't just make this installment as good as the first he surpassed my expectations.

  Taking place not too long after their escape from Barracuda Bay we get right back into Maddy's mad life.  Not mad as in the emotion but mad as in crazy because this girl seriously can not catch a break.  There is now not only the threat of Zerkers but they have to worry about Sentinels because saving a town and people from crazies apparently is cause for alarm.  Well there is the little fact that their defense may have broken a truce but ya know it happens.  As life would have it though, things can stay quiet long even when you try and fly under everyone's radar.  The brains are going to hit the fan and fly, you could tell it was just a matter of time but when they do it will shock you.

  Maddy is changing as a character but heck being a zombie will do that to you.  Admittedly I did only love her more because of everything she is going through and how she is dealing with it.  Not wanting to quite be the stickler that Dane is but trying to stop Stamp from giving them away with his reckless ways.  She still takes the risk of remaining in contact with her dad but this just shows that she is still her own person...er zombie.  Also she is still a kick ass kind of girl and has some serious new skills because you have to keep moving to well, keep moving when you are the living dead and therefore she has learned some new fighting skills.  This girl is also full of personality and you can't help but laugh when reading her inner thoughts and frequently what she says.

  The boys are such a hard thing to talk about.  Dane and Stamp are essentially polar opposites in every way but I guess the age difference would take care of that in many ways.  I'm never really sure who I like more either because they both have good qualities.  Stamp was a little over the top with this one and was kind of endangering all of their safety but given the fact he is having a hard time adjusting to new "unlife".  Dane is trying to keep it together and was exactly who I had expected but I wanted him to be with Maddy and it just wasn't happening...  I do have some hopes for the next book with these guys both for the romance aspect and growth wise.

  There is a signature wit and charm that comes with reading a Rusty Fischer novel and it was especially spectacular in this read.  Picking up a book written by this author is like finding your favourite candy and not having to share: you just want to hide until it's done so that no one will bother you to put it down.  Yes I did just compare this literary awesomeness to candy but hey we all have our quirks.  This is a wonderful second book and I highly recommend picking up the Living Dead Love Story series, it is hands down one of the best zombie series out there!

  Stamp roots around in the fridge for something to drink.  Like any self-respecting zombies, we have no food in there.  Only sugary sweet, colourful drinks lined in row after row on shelf after shelf.  Soda the real stuff, never diet.  Fruit drinks (not juice).  Sports drinks.  Anything loaded with sugar, electrolytes, and artificial crap that can boost our energy between bites of fresh brain (currently stored in the freezer, FYI).

  Picking this one up I really didn't know how it would go but it turned out so different from your everyday read.  Emily has written a solitary, driven main female character that just won't put up with any bull and has a mind of her own.  That being said it's not like there is a lacking of these girls in books now but the ones that seem to capture people and create the buzz but girls like Sam are going to change that.  Authors like Emily are starting to change it up and create a new norm, one with girls that can and will hold their own without looking to the guy to save her.  

  Such a fascinating and vivid world for everything to be set in: New York.  Not only is it set in a place that is constantly on the go but in the fast paced world of the music industry.  I can't even stress how stuck in this book I became when it was even just starting, it was immediately attention grabbing and wasted no time getting to the action.  The fact that everything took place in New York just made it that much more risky because of the difficult and odd situation.  The setting was not what you would consider common or typical because of all of the problems it would bring up but this author seriously nailed it!

  There is so much to relate to and love with Sam.  She isn't the girl that wants to be smack dab in the middle of everyones attention but she has the talent to be there if she wanted.  Not to mention that she isn't guy crazy or dependent upon others to help her, this girl is content just being on the sidelines of everything.  Not that she feels she is too good for anyone but more that she prefers her privacy and has no desire to be in the middle of crap.  Unfortunately it seems to be this attitude that catches peoples attention and some of it causes unimaginable problems and a need to let some people in that she would never have even considered before.  Not that she all of a sudden becomes a party girl (which I loved btw) but when you find yourself becoming another species all together you kind of need guidance and even then she kind of had troubles just accepting it and kind of fought it.  Heck it isn't easy being the poster girl for PETA and finding yourself craving meat in any form.

  By no means should you think that romance is a main focus with this one but Sam seriously catches the eye of many guys.  I was slightly worried about three guys wanting her attention and the different roles they could play.  Harris was basically the guy that she liked from the get go but he was more of a fantasy than anything because of having a girl friend but he manages to complicate everything when they break up.  I never really liked him as a love interest but he was most definitely an interesting character.  Then there is the brothers Owen and Marlon.  Owen was all about Sam but not in a good way and she seriously wasn't interested in him (he's a bit psychotic) but that didn't stop him from trying to claim her.  For Marlon, well I felt he was really the only guy that deserved Sam's time but she made the guy work for it.  Even when she accused him of stalking her, he didn't give up.  I know most of you may find that to be just like a stalker but he had serious reasons.

  There is a lot to love with this read and I found myself completely engrossed in it.  The only issue I had was that the end felt so rushed and pulled together a lot faster than I had expected.  Not to mention I felt like I was left hanging, but maybe that was the point and there will be more.  There is no doubt in my mind that this read will catch peoples attention and for so many different reasons but the strong and independent Sam will be the main one.  I highly recommend picking this read up if you want a book with a strong female lead and something that you can enjoy from start to finish.

  The Forsaken was one of the many books that I had to have last year and yet it fell victim to the mass amount of books I had on my TBR pile.  It is also among the books I wish I had picked up sooner because I almost instantly became hooked.  In a YA world that is becoming more and more dominated by Dystopian, it becomes harder to find something original.  Though I may have drawn a line here and there with the plot that this book had in common with others, I found that it was still different in its own way.  Once you stop and think about it all Dystopians are the same at the heart: they have a government that wants complete control and will dispose of anyone/anything that threatens that.

  The story was without a doubt thrilling and action packed.  How could waking up on an island that is filled with what you have been raised to believe is nothing but criminals and crazies be anything but?  Though it does turn out that everything is not what it seems and sometimes the truth is what you least expect.  There was a lot of finding out what is really going on (as there normally is) but some things even shocked me.  There was even things placed throughout that gave it additional mystery or a bit more background, things that you would not expect at certain points.  Though admittedly it wasn't  filled with background but then again that would have killed some of the suspense and taken away from the end result.

  When it comes to Alenna I have to say the growth that she had during this book alone was amazing.  When we are introduced to her I had this horrible feeling that I was going to be let down and have to deal with a weak female lead.  This girl was raised an orphan and I expected her to have a backbone off the get go but it just wasn't happening...or I should say happening to start because it did happen.  Alenna grew.  She grew a backbone, she grew her own mind and became a character that I really loved.  Maybe that is part of the appeal, that she was someone that adapted instead of just letting others take care of her.  She was believable and likeable in her faults and attempts to be perfect.  I would never say that she is the perfect character but she is definitely working on it and becoming kick ass while she does it.

  While there was a slight romance that just point blank is not the point of this book, it's survival and adapting that matter.  Liam is just a small part of the book but he has a big meaning.  He was the first time Alenna ever questioned if the U.N.A's testing was always right and then later on he was more.  What I loved about this was it was enough that you liked Liam and gave Alenna something else to hold onto, yet the Author didn't over do the romance and left room for other things to develop like friendships and more importantly the story.  The other big relationship in the book was Gadya and Alenna.  Though it wasn't romantic she was her friend.  This cause complications in the Liam department for a few reasons but it seemed that Gadya was a complication in general at times.  I can not say that I didn't like her but I couldn't say that I loved her either.  She would be a good friend one moment but in the next breath she would blame everything on Alenna.  When it comes down to it though Alenna cared about her and really that's what matters.

  The Forsaken was most definitely an addictive read that I did not want to put down.  Well written and fleshed the world and characters that Stasse created will leave readers wanting more.  With something always going on and basically non stop action there is no point when the book plateaus and leaves you wishing things would move faster.  This is one of my top dystopian reads at the moment and I would recommend it to people that are fans of dystopian reads with no hesitation because at a time that dystopian has started dominating the reading world Stasse has created something original and fast paced that is worth every page read.

The boy definitely didn't look like he belonged on the island to me, but supposedly no one can tell from appearances.  An Unanchored Soul is invisible to the eye.  Antisocial tendencies cut across skin color, gender, looks, and everything else. 


I don't reply.  Obviously I'm hoping a lot of hunters decide to stay, because I don't want to get slaughtered.  But I also realize that on the wheel, I might not have the luxury of keeping my hands clean.  If I want to stay alive, I might have to get down in the dirt.  And fight.


I see the light of the fire pit ahead of me.  I vow to keep my promise.  I will be a good spy for Veidman, at least on the surface.  But I'll be a much better spy for myself.  I will trust no one, and focus on learning the truth about what happened to my parents.


I've been forced to stop being a coward and start taking responsibility for myself.  And to start caring again--for the first time since my parents got taken.

  Krokos is an amazing author and though I had a late start to this series, it is proof that it is better late than never.  False Memory was a quick read for me and False Sight was easily just as quick and enjoyable.  Now don't go taking that as it is a short book because it isn't, at 336 pages it may not be huge but it a far cry from little.  There was a slight feeling when this one got started that it was somewhat going through the motions that the last one went through but honestly the feeling passed so quickly for me that in no time I had forgotten (maybe missed a memory shot) and I tore through the large portion of the book remaining.

  False Sight was every bit the action rollercoaster that False Memory was but there was some serious development in the plot.  I had many questions that I thought of long after I had finished the first book and surprisingly this one did answer a few of them.  There was also a switch in the purpose of the Rose's which was without a doubt interesting.  This switch along with a few other plot twists took the reader (me) to places not expected but when I thought about it, it seemed to be logical and made the story that much more interesting.  It's hard to tell you where and why without being a reviewer that spoils the story for everyone but for those of you that have picked this up I hope you found the new twist as logical as I did.

  Miranda is honestly a character that just does not give up and will fight the odds no matter what they are.  She does however have a hero complex.  This is probably because she feels like a fraud not being who her team thinks she is but I'm not sure I can fault her completely.  There is a lot more to lose with this book and she does lose a lot but she gains something too and despite being odd, comes in handy.  She also learns a lot more about her past, who she has always been and who she is meant to be.  Through every discovery, every new twist and every new hurtle Miranda grows, not that she always takes it with grace but she takes it.  There are ups and downs with her as a character in this book but I think ultimately the ups prevail.

  Now once again romance is not the front story in this, heck it isn't even really a background story but it is there.  The triangle has been eliminated completely (what little triangle there was) but I felt that what romance there was also dwindled into almost nothing.  Reason for this: the plot is just packed with happenings and the romance just doesn't have room to exist really.  This is both enjoyable and frustrating because I really love what her and Peter have going on and would like to see it develop a little more.  That being said for those of you out there that would have avoided this book for the reason of a possible triangle you can officially not worry about it because it doesn't develop but disappears completely.

  The ending of this one is the cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers.  I was excited to have this one in my hands before I finished False Memory but I can't even start to tell you what I would give to have the next one in my hands.  Books like this remind me of what there is to love about dystopian novels and why I will continue to pick them up.  Packed with action False Sight was every bit the novel False Memory was and I would recommend this series to lovers of dystopians everywhere.

  But Peter usually doesn't try to hide his feelings unless there's a tactical advantage.  And that's exactly what I'm looking for--some sign to confirm I'm a member of the team, not a possible threat.

  People huddle in the doorways of buildings, watching as we pound past.  I'm not laughing anymore.  I look at a world near death and realize this could happen to us.

I have to survive long enough to beat her.  Survive long enough to save the world.  But even then, I don't know where I'll take them.  I don't know where to take thousands of monsters.
