~Book Blast~ Blackness Takes Over by Norma Jeanne Karlsson

Welcome to the Blackness Takes Over Book Blast!! Personally
I think the synopsis is a little vague... However, it has me interested!!

Shannon Kelly’s life has been anything but typical.
Her life has been altered viciously at the hands of others twice.

However horrible they have been, it’s these changes that have given her a family and career…now possibly love.
The last thirteen years she has been supported and loved by her protector, her entertainer, and her comforter, but never a lover.

When Dylan Kellerman enters Shannon’s life he changes its course in more ways than one.
He gives her hope and promise of a future she was convinced wasn’t attainable.

Just as she begins to believe she has finally turned her life into something she can build a future on…blackness takes over.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Blackness Takes Over is Norma Jeanne’s debut novel. What began as an homage to the home town of a homesick Midwestern girl, unfolded a story of love, danger, humor, and trust. She’s currently working on her untitled sophomore effort. We can’t wait to see what thrilling saga she leads us through next!

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Norma Jeanne recently found herself relocating to the United Kingdom. Now living in Belfast, she took hold of the opportunity to kick the 9-5 job for a chance to become an author. The best part: working from her home office, she gets to spend more time with her cast of crazy characters (written and real).

In her free time Norma Jeanne is a voracious reader and consumes books as readily as meals. She is a people watcher by nature and uses her experiences in life, observed or otherwise, to build the worlds and characters that thrive in her books. A believer in the strength of the human spirit, Norma Jeanne writes the stories of people that persevere when all appears to be lost.

“Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” –Dylan Thomas

Weekly Report: Being Broke & Giveaway Addicted!

Weekly Report is my way of showing you from week to week (most of the time) what new books I received and what has gone on in the past week. So basically it's a report for all the awesome that I got and shared! Originally I posted IMM by Story Siren this is just my version with a little extra ;) all book names take you to the Goodreads page.

I am well aware that this is normally my Sunday post and also that I have not done it since the first of the month but Indie Girl March starts Saturday and I will not be posting anything but what all of the lovely ladies have sent me.  I have been swamped between school, work and reading/reviewing but it is SO worth it!! There are 50+ (I think basically 60) ladies that signed up and there are amazing giveaways, guest posts, interviews and MORE!! So, this is why I am posting this today :)  However, I would still LOVE to hear what you got this week, last week and whenever!

 Bought

From used book stores...  Thank you for having books at discounted prices so that I can still
afford to pick up a couple of books over the past month!

 Gifted

Thank you to Kristie for these beauties!! She picked them up for me because she knew I wanted
them and we switched off for me driving to the Marissa Meyer event!

Sadly this is not all I won this month...  Actually most of it was won prior to this month!
My haul for this month is mind blowing and though I am over the moon about these books,

Anyways... Thank you Susan!!

Thank you to Susan Kaye Quinn for this beauty!!  I won it from a Steampunk event that

The Marissa Meyer Signing ++ GIVEAWAY!!

So being the complete unprepared mess that I have been lately, I forgot my camera and my phone ended up trying to cover my behind!! Yup, it was a total fail in the blogger department but I got a small video clip below to share and then I will tell you a little about the before the clip that you see and some of the stuff that really stuck out :)

To start before I give you all of the great stuff., I am going to start with the awesome Cress:

How seriously awesome is that?!  I swear when Marissa comes back for Winter (I am wishful thinking... Positive in, positive out and all that jazz) I am SO going to go to the signing as Scarlet!!!  Ya, I will be that awesome :)  Anyway here is a quick clip now...

Okay and I normal don't upload video's so I seriously hope that worked!! I am the least tech savvy blogger I know, I swear!!  I applaud you guys for hanging in there with me!! I also partially blame the video confusion on blogger and its special screen that leads me to believe that it is downloaded but the message at the top of the screen leads me to believe otherwise!!

Anyway, Marissa was super awesome!  This is the end of the clip that I managed to take with my phone before it went all almost dead on me.  Totally awesome end but the entire signing was amazing and Marissa (if you didn't know) LOVES Sailor Moon!!  Sailor Moon should be a favorite of everyone's but for Marissa, it is basically what got the ball rolling in her writing career.  It was her love of the show and the fan fiction that she wrote that started it all (you can still find some of it online btw).  So, back to the point between Sailor Moon and Nanowrimo her writing took off.  No her first works weren't The Lunar Chronicles but in the end Nanowrimo was the start of the series.

I am not going to write a novel and bore you because there is no way I can make everything Marissa said as amazing as when she said it, nor could I do it without boring you I am sure...

If you ever get to see Marissa make sure she tells a Fairy Tale!  She is so animated and fun that you are sucked in!! I know most of the originals but I admit the one she couldn't tell (Red Riding Hood) is one I don't know... So now I will look it up and start a new addiction myself!!

SO... I was unsure if I was going to be able to give these babies away because Scarlet was
one of my first ACRs from Raincoast and well Cress blew my mind...  However, seeing I have
finished copies I decided I should not be greedy, and the post cards match the books (they are
signed too btw) and seeing Marissa was so kind as to give me two pieces of swag, I decided to
share the wealth as well!!  Sadly because I am a student and broke and my other giveaway was
INT this one can only be US/CAN :(  But hang in there because Indie Girl March starts in a couple
of days and there are LOTS of INT giveaways!!!!  So below is what is up for grabs!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Angels are real. They aren't always kind. Violet Eden is certain of all this because she is Grigori - part angel, part human. She has felt the influence of both light and dark.

When Hell unleashes its worst, Violet must embrace every facet of her angel self to save the people she cares about and the world as she knows it. But death is not the worst thing that Violet will face. For her, the endless question 'Can love conquer all?' will finally be answered.

Best book in the series so far!!

This is the series that I fell in love with.  Finally in book four I have been rewarded for the patience that I used, the same patience that was wearing thin in the last book.  The premise that kept me coming back for more, despite the battering it suffered because of the triangle has conquered my love once again.  Shirvington has brought back the important stuff and though not everything was happy, it was a far better turn of events than I could have expected.  However, you can't have the good without the bad, and this book brought out everything between as well.

Taking off right where Emblaze left us, Endless is the non stop read I have been waiting for in this series.  Jessica Shirvington really delivered a plot to hang on for and a story to pull me right back into this series.  There was so much to accomplish in this book and so many places to go but everything was managed without over doing it.  I found that the pacing was basically perfect and every twist took the steps that I really feel the plot needed, the series needed.

Violet has more than come into her own.  Yes, she occasionally still pulls away from what she really wants and is as stubborn as all hell.  I think the reason I have struggled through the last couple of books was because she really has amazing potential.  That is once she stops worrying over her love life and the two guys that pull at her in different ways.  Endless was like an awakening of many things for her and she was able to step up and do what needed to be done despite everything.  This is not to say that I didn't feel there were some things that she should have fought a little bit harder or not just let go of but overall her growth was in leaps and bounds in this book.

All I have to say about the triangle of Lincoln, Phoenix and Violet is that I hope that it is over.  Though it seems to be there is still another book and sometimes things that seemed finished... aren't so much.  I did love what happened in this one with the romance, mostly that is.  However, I have a greater respect and understanding for what happened.  This does not mean I like it but I accept it anyway.

This is my favorite book in this series and I can now say that I seriously look forward to reading the last book.  I have had the spark I felt when I first picked this series up lit once again and I hope that the next book turns it into a fire.  For those of you that have picked up this series and loved it from the start this book will be your biggest treat so far.  For those of you that haven't picked it up or remain on the fence, hang in there because Endless will make this series worth the effort!!

Griffen was standing at the head of the dining table, while Lincoln had moved to back wall and was leaning against it.  Everyone else had taken seats.  I chose the empty space beside Dad.  It was strange having everyone together and in my home.  My two worlds had collided and I desperately hoped it was a good thing.
When I didn't immediately smile back, as if sensing all of my fears for our tomorrows and my sadness about the things I   we   had to leave behind, he grabbed my hand.
Honey and spice and all things dangerous are nice.
Their suggestion was to do everything I could to look weaker than I really was   a concept that went against my nature. But I could try.
Yeah, that's right.  I can feel you leaking your calm crap into me and I've had about enough of my emotions being messed with to last a lifetime.  He didn't need telling twice.  The trickle of his power moved away from us and he gestured to the front pew.
"Everything is about to end isn't it?" I asked.
Lincoln stroked my hair and ran his hands down my arms before kissing me   just a light kiss on my lips, but one heavy with his love   and I soaked it up.
"Not us Vi.  Everything else may end, nut not us.  What we have... We're endless."
I stood and wiped away the tears with the back of my hand.  Phoenix had been wrong about a lot of things.  But he'd been right about one thing: "Love has killed us all."
