SeriesFrostblood Saga #1

Seventeen-year-old Ruby is a fireblood who must hide her powers of heat and flame from the cruel frostblood ruling class that wants to destroy all that are left of her kind. So when her mother is killed for protecting her and rebel frostbloods demand her help to kill their rampaging king, she agrees. But Ruby's powers are unpredictable, and she's not sure she's willing to let the rebels and an infuriating (yet irresistible) young man called Arcus use her as their weapon.

All she wants is revenge, but before they can take action, Ruby is captured and forced to take part in the king's tournaments that pit fireblood prisoners against frostblood champions. Now she has only one chance to destroy the maniacal ruler who has taken everything from her and from the icy young man she has come to love.

Why I'm Waiting

I feel like there are so many great fantasy reads coming out.  It's like Dystopia is taking a back seat and Fantasy is surging forth like it deserves.  Don't get me wrong I love dystopia but like all things sometimes it's better it takes second place for a bit, lest we get sick of it.  So, this debut read featuring fire and ice and seemingly nothing horribly nice going on has my attention.

When two warring kingdoms unified against a deadly menace laying waste to both their lands, they had to make a choice: vow to marry their heirs to one another, or forfeit their lives to the dragon.

Centuries later, everyone expects the sheltered princess Sorrowlynn to choose the barbarian prince over the fire-breathing beast—everyone, that is, except Sorrow, who is determined to control her own destiny or die trying.

As she is lowered into the dragon’s chamber, she assumes her life is over until Golmarr, the young prince she just spurned, follows her with the hopes of being her hero and slaying the dragon. But the dragon has a different plan. . . .

If the dragon wins, it will be freed from the spell that has bound it to the cave for centuries. If Sorrow or Golmarr vanquish the dragon, the victor will gain its treasure and escape the cave beneath the mountain. But what exactly is the dragon hiding?

There are no safe havens for Sorrow or Golmarr—not even with each other—and the stakes couldn’t be higher as they risk everything to protect their kingdom.

Why I'm Waiting

I'm really not sure what part specifically calls to me with this book.  I know that I'm automatically drawn to anything that even hints being about dragons.  But, I think this book has a potential to be so much more.  There is so much at risk and the synopsis hints at a possible romance that was not to be. I would be lying if I said I wasn't curious about Golmarr and how he will differ from Sorrow's preconceived idea of him...  Actually, the more I think about it the more I realize there are a bunch of chances for this book to surprise and dazzle!!

SeriesEverlife #2

My Firstlife is over, but my Everlife is only now beginning.

With her last living breath, Tenley "Ten" Lockwood made her choice and picked her realm in the Everlife. Now, as the war between Troika and Myriad rages, she must face the consequences.

Because Ten possesses a rare supernatural ability to absorb and share light, the Powers That Be have the highest expectations for her future—and the enemy wants her neutralized. Fighting to save her Secondlife, she must learn about her realm from the ground up while launching her first mission: convincing a select group of humans to join her side before they die. No pressure, right?

But Ten's competition is Killian, the boy she can't forget—the one who gave up everything for her happiness. He has only one shot at redemption: beating Ten at a game she's never even played. As their throw-downs heat up, so do their undeniable feelings, and soon, Ten will have to make another choice. Love…or victory.

Why I'm Waiting

I am beyond in love with this cover.  I picked up Firstlife because I loved the cover and Gena but, by the end I was super conflicted.  Basically, I'm interested in seeing how this book goes and crossing my fingers that certain things happen.  From the synopsis there's a good chance that I'll end up getting sucked in and dying for book #3 before I'm done.

SeriesHunted #1

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.

So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

Why I'm Waiting

Well...  How long do you have to read this post?  Because seriously this book gives me all kinds of fan girl thoughts and envy for those that will read it early.  This book...  The cover...  Just everything about this book almost literally screams read me, to me.  It also is a serious bonus that it's a retelling/twisted tale.  Under no circumstances would I pass up a chance to get my hands on anything that's a new take.  Plus it's Beauty and the Beast!!! Seriously, I can't wait!!!!

Series-

In this modern day spin on Leroux’s gothic tale of unrequited love turned to madness, seventeen-year-old Rune Germain has a mysterious affliction linked to her operatic talent, and a horrifying mistake she’s trying to hide. Hoping creative direction will help her, Rune’s mother sends her to a French arts conservatory for her senior year, located in an opera house rumored to have ties to The Phantom of the Opera.

At RoseBlood, Rune secretly befriends the masked Thorn—an elusive violinist who not only guides her musical transformation through dreams that seem more real than reality itself, but somehow knows who she is behind her own masks. As the two discover an otherworldly connection and a soul-deep romance blossoms, Thorn’s dark agenda comes to light and he’s forced to make a deadly choice: lead Rune to her destruction, or face the wrath of the phantom who has haunted the opera house for a century, and is the only father he’s ever known.

Why I'm Waiting

Well... Cover lust.  There is not a doubt in my mind that I will NEED this one the second I can get my hands on it!   Between the beautiful cover (I'm strangely addicted to covers with red), and the fact that A.G. Howard is totally amazing this book is a given for me.  Admittedly I am also extremely interested in the twist/retelling aspect.  I can only think of one other book that ever did Phantom of the Opera and I loved it.  It's not something that is done really and I am super intrigued to see how it all pans out!

SeriesThe Talon Saga #4

Dragon hatchling Ember Hill was never prepared to find love at all--dragons do not suffer human emotions--let alone the love of a human and a former dragonslayer, at that. With ex-soldier Garret dying at her feet after sacrificing his freedom and his life to expose the deepest of betrayals, Ember knows only that nothing she was taught by dragon organization Talon is true. About humans, about rogue dragons, about herself and what she's capable of doing and feeling.

In the face of great loss, Ember vows to stand with rogue dragon Riley against the dragon-slaying Order of St. George and her own twin brother Dante--the heir apparent to all of Talon, and the boy who will soon unleash the greatest threat and terror dragonkind has ever known.

Talon is poised to take over the world, and the abominations they have created will soon take to the skies, darkening the world with the promise of blood and death to those who refuse to yield.

Why I'm Waiting

I have been addicted to this author ever since I picked up the first Iron Fey novel.  Then I had the chance to meet her and I told her how it had brought me to tears...  She told me those tears fuel her writing and I laughed, but now I'm starting to wonder lol.  Any book by Julie is an auto buy for me and then add that this is about dragons... Well, this saga has become a serious addiction.  If you want to know why I'm waiting, it's simply because I'm hooked!
