Review: Catspell

Sixteen-year-old Breena never thought anything could be worse than being forced to leave
the faerie realm. Then she got stuck with a fairy godmother. But if she has to choose between
the two, she’d leave the Faerie Realm over getting bossed about by a faerie with a pointed
stick any day. Unfortunately, her attempt to evade her fairy godmother gives her growing
pains in the form of fur, whiskers, and a tail.

Turning into a cat is the least of her worries, though. The potion wasn’t meant to bring out
her inner feline, it was meant to put her to sleep. Forever. If Breena wants to make it to her
Happily Ever After, she’ll have to accept that sometimes a fairy godmother really does come
in handy, after all.

Review

Before Breena was even born her own mother traded her for a basket of the Fairy Queen's
fruit and thus begins the story.  Never knowing her real parents or knowing
really where she fit into anything made her entire life lonely.  There was no one that
really seemed to love her and when she turns 16 the Queen contracts Nerissa to find
Breena her happily ever after.  It's never quite that simple is it?  Breena wants nothing
to do with Nerissa or a happily ever after that she doesn't fully believeif out there waiting
for her but even if the road isn't smooth it is full of twists and turns that take us
 on a fun filled read.

From the get go this book was fun and kept you attention.  It is written from all different
points of view and as each chapter changes and you read from someone new you fall in
love with the book a little more.  The best part about having all of the different points of
view is that you kind of get to know and understand everyone as you read,  There is one character
in particular that it helped me understand and without it I probably would have
disliked the character.

Nerissa is not really your typical fairy godmother.  When you think fairy godmother
you think  bubbly and all rainbow and butterflies.  Well that is not the case here.
Nerissa is nice and wantsto help but she has a particular attitude underneath that I just love!
Her DIDs (Damsels in Distress) aren't always easy but she finds them predictable
until she gets contracted to Breena andis surprised in many ways.  Mostly in the fact that
Breena is so strong and isn't all about heading out and finding a Prince to take care of her.
Instead she asks to be able to help others find what they  need and hopes that somewhere
along the way that she may find someone that cares for her as she has always wanted.
This is not what Nerissa was prepared for but being a fairy godmother she
 has to work with that.

Through and through this novel will not disappoint.  There are so many reasons that you
will keep on turning the pages.  I love all the different types of characters that all manage
to fit into this book and work.  I really enjoyed Natter and Blossom.  They were so original
and when you find  out what/who they really are you will be surprised and so happy.
This book was really well written and has a little bit of everything for everyone.

4/5
