**REVIEW** Glitch by Heather Anastasiu

In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network.
When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.
As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Both boys introduce Zoe to feelings that are entirely new. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse.
In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.

How I wanted to love and adore this book.  The premise and the cover had me in love with it before I opened the pages.  A world where there is no pain, no war, no feeling.  How horrible right?!  But there is a light at the end of the tunnel: The Glitch.  But this did not provide mush of a release for me or Zoe to be honest.  However the dystopian world that you walk into is amazing and executed amazingly.  So somewhere in reading this I found some balance.

Zoe is just another member of the community... Well except for the fact that she can think for herself & feel emotion.  She also has a unique talent.  However she doesn't see that way and we spend much of the start of the book doing nothing but worrying.  Given this is how she was raised I understand.  Ignorance is as ignorance does right but what I have a problem with is the constant inner dialogue about how she doesn't want to give up this freedom and then how bad and wrong she is for having the freedom.  When she realizes that she is going to be checked out something bigger than she ever imagines happens.  This is where I found her growing and when I realized just how much potential she had.

Buyer beware there is more than one guy competing for Zoe's affection.  Although I don't feel that there is a triangle going on some may see it that way.  To be honest in my opinion Max needs to be smacked.  He is everything that Zoe is not including selfish and self centred!  Adrien is really the one you hope for but even he failed to completely catch my attention.  Although he cared for Zoe and wanted to protect her I found myself wondering if he was strong enough for her.  Although I will admit that he could certainly turn into one of the many book boyfriends that I love.

Overall this book shows potential for what could be an awesome dystopian series.  There are twists that will shock you and have you wondering just how the story will continue.  There were actually a couple of them that went completely different from how I expected it to go.  The people that Glitch are all unique and I totally appreciated that and the rest of the community falls into a well defined same and boring category.  Although that is how they are meant to be.  No emotion = no resistance right?  I am very curious as to what happens to Zoe and how the story will proceed and will pick up the next book in the series.

  2. Glitch sounds like an alright read but...I think I'm going to pass for now. I've mostly read mixed reviews and the premise hasn't really grabbed me. Awesome review!

  3. This book has serious, across the board reviews. I can't say that I was crazy to read this one to begin with, but now I just don't even think that I am interested. Thanks for the great review, though!
