**REVIEW** Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…
Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.
Something worse than the Arum has come to town…
The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.
But then everything changes…
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

This was one of those books that I was just dying to read but held of for a little bit (a week) because I was temporarily worried about it having second book syndrome.  You know when the first book is amazing and you hear mind blowing things about the second book only to pick it up and find that it isn't what you had hoped and dreamed for.  Onyx does not carry the second book syndrome and I must say I loved it just as much as I loved the first one if not more.  The tension between Katy and Daemon is higher than ever and you can't help but love it.

Katy is as stubborn as ever in this book and her feelings for Daemon are not getting any easier to deal with.  There were times that I just wanted to scream because she wouldn't give him a chance.  In Obsidian I totally understood fighting her attraction but this one I really just wanted her to give him a chance.  But with all the things she has to worry about I guess that I cut her a little slack.  I mean with developing some of her own abilities and trying to keep them a secret from everyone is a lot of pressure.  Also her bond to Daemon makes her hesitant because lets face it if you thought the only reason someone was being nice was because there was something that attached the two of you, you might hesitate too.

Daemon...  Holy HOT alien alert.  I just want to put it out there that there is no way that Daemon would be able to walk the streets without being swarmed.  In Onyx he will raise your heartbeat to the max.  He shows us an entirely new side of himself.  The one where he can be sweet and put an effort forth and not just expect it all to come to him because he deserves it.  He also takes his level of devotion to an entire new level when he makes it clear that he would do anything to keep Katy safe.  I mean some total "Aww" moments happen in this book guys.  He knows how Katy feels and even if she denies it to no end he is not giving up.

The romance and the emotional level that this novel reaches is beyond awesome.  I truly love that Jennifer has found a way to have insta love that isn't insta love at all.  I know that many of you would debate this fact but really the attraction was right off the get go but Katy fights it and wants more than something like that.  Heck the blogger in her dislikes and loves insta love like we all do.  The chemistry that flies between Katy and Daemon is undeniable and it constantly leaves you at the edge of your seat.

The entire plot in this book is just full of suspense and action.  There is always something going on and even if you think you know what is going to happen, you don't.  Sometimes you can get it but the things that happen aren't always in line with what you would expect.  You learn more about the DOD as they are now in town and it appears they plan on staying.  If that isn't enough for you there is a new guy in town that seems to be interested in Katy and well lets just say Daemon more than dislikes him.

Jennifer L. Armentrout shows us once again just how amazing she is.  Her writing style is just down right addicting and the characters in the novel all come through loud and clear.  They all have their own voice and own feel.  Like Katy being a blogger and the mentions towards bloggers is something many people out there can relate to.  When Daemon appears in Katy's IMM Vlog I think every blogger out there was wanting a special appearance with him.  This is why I love that you feel that you are really a part of it all.  The feel that is there even at the end when you are left once again in wanting.  Well I know I was at least.

This book was packed with such intensity that I am not sure how Jennifer is going to top it in Opal.  Although I know she will.  Holy Hot Alien we will have more of Daemon and Katy.  Even if you aren't normally an alien person I would highly suggest Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series.  The is so much tension, action and moments to love that these books are not only hard to resist but flat out addictive!

Quotes & Awesome

Rolling my eyes, I faced the front of the classroom.  Daemon was a total babe, but he was stab-worthy, which, at times, zeroed out the babe part.
I closed my eyes, almost certain I was approaching stage one of a zombie infection.

When Daemon had said he wasn't giving up, I had no idea he was going to go all balls-to-the-wall right off the bat.

He paused, and I could hear the smile in his voice. "You bookish people love teasers, don't you?"

  2. I had bouts of starts and stops with this book. I don't know...it got too much for me. The push and pull between D and Katy was putting me through the wringer. To this day, I haven't grown a pair to read it. =/

  7. I have not read Obsidian yet. I have read a ton of reviews, and I definitely want to read it! I read Half-Blood, and I loved it. So, I will read this series. But only after I finish reading the other series. And I hope that every single book in both of these series are just as good as Half-Blood was. (Sorry if this is rambling. Tired. I am so tired!)
