Where I write, Inspiration & a Little Advice
I do all my writing/typing on my laptop. Sometimes I’ll write notes in a notebook and transfer them into my manuscript, or I will use the notepad on my phone. I currently write pretty much all over my loft, either the couch, the bed, or the floor. My office is a work in progress. When writing I have to have music. I cannot write without it. All my books have a playlist, so whatever book I’m writing I go through and make a special playlist and I will listen to ONLY that while writing. I cannot write when my husband is home, he drives me bonkers, it has to be quit just my music.
While writing, I normally have to have caffeine which would be favorite coffee Café mocha or Vanilla express. I’d never drank coffee until I became an author. I also have to have lots of water and snacks, normally fat free cheeze-it’s, and or chocolate covered pretzels.
When I first starting writing my first novel, it was going to be a standalone. My intension’s where to never do a ‘series’. Well a book I was reading at the time, was a series. I was so drawn into that series and loved every book. I decided that was my inspiration to make the Embracing series. After changing some things around, I decided there would be three books in the series. I’m currently working on the third one, and I have been even more inspired by my fellow authors and my editor to make the series longer. What started as one novel, is now a seven book series. My first book was also just re-edited and formatted. I’m really excited that, I had that done.
Don’t give up, follow your dream. You will have good reviews and you will have bad ones. I honestly take all the bad ones and use them to make my writing better. Of course they are harsh and hurt my feelings at first, but then I started thinking, that not everyone will enjoy my books. For every one person that hated it, there are two more that loved it. Just keep writing, and don’t let the negativity bring you down.
My name is Delisa Lynn, I grew up in Columbus Ohio, I am currently residing in Western New York. I love music, all generations, I do have a soft spot for country and 80’s hair bands. My favorite season is fall, I love the weather that time of the year, watching the leaves change and most of all being able to watch football. Go Bucks!! I am also a 49ers fan and New York Yankees fan. My favorite color is pink, not baby pink hot pink. My mother in law thought I was joking when I asked her to add hot pink in my wedding dress. I’m married to my high school sweet heart, we have been together going on nineteen years, sometimes I can’t stand him but I wouldn’t trade him for the world. I love you Jay. Our baby is a five year old spoiled Yorki named Sophie and yes she thinks she is human.
I have always had a passion for reading and writing. I remember being around eight or nine years old reading my Mama’s romance magazines. Then once I got a little older I was reading full length novels by the time I was thirteen. I remember my freshman year in high school, I told my English teacher I wanted to be a writer he laughed when I said I wanted to write love stories. So Mr. Gatti look at me now. Of course it took me twenty plus years to get here. I have a very vivid imagination and have always felt I should express it in my writing. When I’m not writing you can find me snuggled with my hubby watching a movie, or cuddled in the corner of the couch with my fur baby reading.
I hope you all enjoy reading my books as much as I did writing them
