With one touch, Leila can see it all.

Leila Marx is trying to put her life back together after her fiance is murdered. When Detective Garrick Pearson enlists her help with a difficult case, she is thankful for the distraction and the opportunity to use her talents as a touch clairvoyant. Leila and Garrick delve into the mystery behind a series of missing teenage girls and mummified corpses while discovering their own growing attraction to each other.

Conner Hoffman is an intriguing lawyer and striking half-demon who enters Leila’s life unexpectedly. Although her visions are terrifying, she is fascinated by his charm and his legacy. When it becomes evident that the murders are linked to a paranormal event, Conner introduces Leila to a world unbeknownst to ordinary society. She suddenly finds herself immersed in supernatural politics, sorcery, and danger as she becomes the killer’s next target.

Staying alive will mean relying on friends, accepting the unbelievable, and trusting in her heart again.

  Multiple layers of awesome!

It is no secret that I am a fan of sea myths and mermaids in particular and that is how I discovered the amazing Amber Garr.  However, this book was nothing like what I fell in love with but it was still the amazing writing that I have come to expect.  Touching Evil is more of an adult novel and I almost instantly fell in love with these new characters and world.  Garr has created something that para lovers and mystery lovers alike, can sink their teeth into.

My favorite thing about the plot in this one, was that beyond Leila being a clairvoyant that sees things through touch, is that the paranormal element was kind of eased in.  To an extent you know from the synopsis that there is more than just her as a paranormal element, but it wasn't apparent to what extent.  I was excited when I found out that there was a slew of super natural beings.  They weren't at the front of everything and it's not like everyone knew of their existence but they were there.  I believe that just having them there helped everything move at a smooth pace and added a little something extra.  They gave Leila something to think about and a little bit of back up in her case.  I also have to credit Garr with surprising me with the twist near the end...did not see that coming.

I really don't know what to say about Leila.  When we first meet her she appears broken because of the loss of her fiance, but that does not stop her from existing.  There wasn't a time that I thought he weak, but there was a time that I feared she would not be strong.  I was afraid that she would be the character that you read and never really felt for.  However, that did not end up being the case.  Leila developed as the book did and honestly I really did care about what happened to her.  I cared about the inner fight between moving on, the two guys that seemed to be breaking her out of her funk and accepting the bigger picture that she suddenly became a part of.  For those of you that are curious about if she broke free of the not weak and not strong streak... The answer is yes, but sometimes you have to lose to win.

How do you even start to describe and pick between Conner and Garrick.  Seriously, it is not easy at all.  Part of me wants to say that it is a clear cut choice and easy to accept but it just isn't.  I also felt that despite the two guys looking to grab Leila's attention and affection, that there wasn't a triangle.  Leila did not hop from one to the other, torn by her emotions and the sexual tension that they created.  Actually, there really wasn't much in the sexual tension area.  The fact that she was still trying to get over her deceased fiance and wasn't sure that she was ready for either of these guys may have helped as well.  I also liked that because this is an adult novel, the guys weren't basically eye beating each other and full out confrontational.  In fact their paths rarely cross.  Garr truly handled having two potential love interests like a pro and did so without ruining the read.

I am looking forward to more of this series!!  It's an adult read that has my attention completely but could be picked up by more mature teens as well.  There isn't really much for sexual content... I read more sex in New Adult reads, so if you aren't a big fan of sexual content you should be good with this read.  There is all around a lot to enjoy about this read.  I would like to use the word flawless but that makes it sound so much more simple than it really is.  I highly recommend this book to lovers of paranormal and mystery.

I'm a clairvoyant.  To be more specific - a clairsentient or touch clairvoyant.  My gift allows me to glimpse an event or emotion while handling an object belonging to a victim.
"It's not a porn shop.  Technically, it's an adult entertainment store."  Something on my face must have amused him.  "And a very successful one at that."  He got out of the car and opened my door.  "Come on, Leila.  Don't be a prude."
"I am not a prude.  This is just an unexpected place to be kidnapped to."
"I'm sorry.  Did you say fae and sword?  Is he serious?" I asked the entire room, but no one answered.  "A fairy?"  Okay, where were the cameras?  "A fairy...that owns a porn shop?"
This time, I swear he said it with more sensuality and seduction forced into that one word than any live woman could handle.  My stomach fluttered and I refused to turn and look at him.  He knew exactly what responses he'd inflamed in me, and I promised to reprimand him for that later.

So, Amber contacted me a told me she wanted to add a GIVEAWAY!!
YAY for you guys!! One lucky INT winner will win a SIGNED PB
